What Are Lenticular Pak® Cartridges?

The Lenticular Pak® (also known as a lenticular module) consists of multiple depth filter cells stacked vertically. Available in standard 12-inch (30.5 cm) and 16-inch (40.6 cm) diameters, these modules typically contain between 5 to 18 cells per unit.

Each cell is constructed from dual discs of depth filter media—such as MicroMedia®, AlphaMedia®, or MicroClear®—edge-sealed using a patented polypropylene process. This construction creates an enclosed system that eliminates the leakage and exposure often associated with filter presses, while maintaining the same depth filtration principles.

Feature Benefit
Enclosed System Prevents atmospheric exposure and product leakage; ideal for sanitary and hazardous fluids.
Scalable Design Linear scalability from laboratory testing to full-scale production.
Rapid Change-Out Significantly reduces downtime compared to dressing a plate and frame press.

Product Series Breakdown

Zeta-Pak®: The Workhorse of Depth Filtration

The Zeta-Pak® series is engineered using MicroMedia® compositions, which incorporate cellulose, diatomaceous earth (DE), or perlite. This combination provides a strong zeta potential, allowing the filter to attract and hold even ultra-fine particles such as haze and colloids that are smaller than the mechanical rating of the media.

  • Ideal For: Botanical extracts (wax and lipid removal), biopharmaceuticals, and cognac/whiskey polishing.
  • Mechanism: Electrokinetic adsorption combined with mechanical sieving.

Disc-Pak®: 100% Cellulose for Sensitive Fluids

The Disc-Pak® series utilizes AlphaMedia®, a pure cellulose media free from DE, perlite, or synthetic binders. This is critical for applications where the impartation of minerals or the stripping of active ingredients must be avoided.

  • Ideal For: Dielectric oils, perfumes, essential oils, and high-purity syrups.
  • Advantage: Very low extractables and excellent chemical compatibility.
