ErtelAlsop Pak® Lenticular Filters: Premium Depth Filtration Modules

High-Performance Solid & Liquid Separation

For industries requiring rigorous purity standards and efficient process flows, ErtelAlsop Pak® Lenticular Filters represent the gold standard in depth filtration technology. As a distributor for top-tier filtration solutions, Purecowater provides these advanced lenticular modules to replace traditional, labor-intensive plate and frame filters with a sealed, sanitary, and user-friendly system.

Whether you are processing pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, chemicals, or food and beverage products, the Pak® cartridge system offers a versatile range of media options to tackle specific contaminant removal challenges, including haze, particulate, and moisture.

What is a Lenticular Filter?

The ErtelAlsop Pak® filters (also known as modules) consist of multiple filter cells stacked vertically. Each cell is constructed from a pair of depth filter sheets—such as MicroMedia®, AlphaMedia®, or MicroClear®—with edges sealed using a patented polypropylene process. This assembly creates a shape resembling a stack of double convex lenses, giving rise to the name “lenticular.”

Unlike surface filters that trap particles only on the top layer, these depth filters utilize a complex matrix of fibers and particles to trap contaminants throughout the thickness of the media. This results in significantly higher solids loading capacity and filtration efficiency.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Enclosed System: The lenticular design fits into sealed housings, eliminating the leakage and drip pans associated with old plate and frame presses. This ensures a cleaner, safer working environment.
  • Lock-and-Load Design: Reduces change-out time from hours to minutes, minimizing downtime and labor costs.
  • Scalability: Available in 12-inch and 16-inch diameters with stacks ranging from 5 to 18 cells, allowing precise sizing for your batch volume.
  • Zeta Potential: Many media options, such as the Zeta-Pak®, possess a positive zeta potential, electrokinetically attracting negatively charged contaminants like bacteria and endotoxins.

Technical Specifications

The Pak® cartridges are highly customizable to fit existing filter housings, including those with flat gaskets or double O-ring fittings. Below is a breakdown of the standard specifications available through Purecowater.

Available Media Formulas

Purecowater can assist you in selecting the correct media formation for your unique application:

  • Zeta-Pak®: Includes wet strength resin and inorganic filter aids (DE or Perlite). Known for high flow rates and excellent retention of ultra-fine particles via electrokinetic adsorption.
  • AlphaMedia®: A pure cellulose media for applications where inorganic filter aids are not desired.
  • MicroClear®: Impregnated with activated carbon, allowing for adsorption of color, odor, and impurities without handling loose carbon powder.

Common Applications

These lenticular filters are trusted across diverse markets for their robust construction and reliability.

  • Pharmaceuticals: Clarification of syrups, serums, and removal of catalysts.
  • Food & Beverage: Haze removal in distilled spirits, wine filtration, and botanical extract clarification.
  • Utilities: Filtration of transformer oils and dielectric fluids (AquaKv-Pak®) to remove moisture and carbon.
  • Chemicals: Polishing of specialty chemicals and solvents.

With over 300 precision dies available, ErtelAlsop modules can often be retrofitted into existing competitive housings, making it easy to upgrade your current filtration setup without significant capital expenditure.
